May Instructor Highlight: Emily Cordz

The B.A.D. Team is an important part of our studio community, and we want you to get to know them as well as we do! This month’s instructor highlight is Emily Cordz! Avid traveler and out lyra guru, Emily teaches Lyra Foundations Wednseday 5:30 - 6:45 pm but what about when she’s not at the studio?

Emily Outside The Studio

Keeping her feet on the ground has never been of great interest to Emily Cordz. She spent most of her free time growing up in the water, swimming (competitive and artistic) or snorkeling/scuba diving. When Cordz moved to WA the first time and discovered how cold the water can be, she sought a different outlet. Pole dance appealed to her inner artistic swimmer for the smooth flowing movements that look effortless, but are actually rather challenging. She began taking classes in early 2008, got hooked, completed an in-house instructor training, and began teaching classes and workshops. Life took her to the east coast, where Emily added silks and later lyra to her personal and teaching repertoire. She continued her travels and teaching internationally for several years, before returning to WA. Her favorite thing about being an instructor is helping people build their confidence and personal movement styles.

We Asked Emily A Few Questions

If you were 1/2 inch tall - what food would you want to explore and why?

Sparkling wine if I can have a mini scuba suit, too. Technically not a food, but it is a consumable. I think it would be fun to play and swim among with the carbonation bubbles.

Or maybe just sparking water, then I wouldn't end up sticky.

What food/meal do you wish grew on trees?

Koshari. Hands down. It's delish, but takes so many steps and dishes to prepare. Having it grow on trees would be so convenient.
